Final Game Interview Blog

             Yesterday I did my final game file. I was really nervous in the beginning but I got through it. I am really glad that I got my interview and also my whole 7th grade globaloria done. Here is my video and the questions that I answered.



Team Introduction:
My name is Ethan. I am the only one on my team so I have all of the roles and responsibilities of the team.
Audience:
My game is for teens this is because I feel that all the people my age need to make better choices when they are at the fair.They also learn range in this age group. Gameplay:
The player will see the food and have to see if they can move the alien the healthiness number of that food. There will be mini type game in the middle and at the end of my game that will really brings in range.
Learning Goal:
 They will learn how healthy each of the foods are along with learning range.
Fun Factor: I think that what the player will think is fun is seeing the foods they eat and judging them. They will also see how easy range is.
Smart Factor:  If you get it wrong then you are able to see the nutritional value of the food and that could help you to get the problem right. You are also able to see it if you go over the food when you are playing.
Style Factor: An animation that the player does is move the alien with the up,down,and side keys to get him to where he has to go to. I have a sound in my game it is on my first scene.
Originality Factor: I think that what makes my game unique is that I took the range that I knew (adding numbers then dividing them by how many you have and there you go)and made it to where you choose from a range of 1-10. But I do have range in my game it is at the middle and end.

The Big Idea: Provide an update on your team's game topic. What is the most important concept you want your players to learn?

I want my players to learn a lot about about the healthiness of the foods. I also want them to learn to do range. 

Making Decisions as a Team: How did your team's ideas about the game topic change over time?

I think that I idea changed a lot. For example I thought that I wasn't going to have actual range and I thought that I was going to drag the alien and not use the keys.

Roles & Responsibilities: Tell us more about your team process. Please each talk about your specific roles, and how you work together.

I am the only one in team so I have all the roles and Responsibilities. I think I work really good with myself.

Research: What kind of research went into your game topic? What did you learn about your topic? What message do you want the player to understand?

I researched the nutritional facts of the foods and the player needs to understand the healthiness of them.

The User Experience: Explain the actions players take in your game. How do you play it? What decisions were made about features to include, and how did you decide?

The player moves the alien with the keys to the healthiness of the foods you decide by the nutritional facts.

Mastering Flash: What Flash resources have been most helpful in your learning so far, and why? How did you locate these resources?

The code library has been really helpful and it is one of the links on the wiki.

Overcoming Challenges: What curriculum topic has been most difficult for you so far? How did you overcome this difficulty? What programming features are you most proud of in your game?

I think that some codes were very challenging and I overcame them by asking a lot of questions to my teacher. I am proud just how much code was able to go into my game.

Researcher



Computer Research



  The researcher came and interviewed me today and I feel that I did really good. I was very nervous when started but I got relaxed. I think that I did the best that I could and I think I truely showed how much Mrs.Sheppard taught.

The School Year

          I was really nervous about the whole Globaloria thing when we first started, but I have grow to really like it. Looking back at it there was a lot of ups and downs and even though there might of been way more downs than ups but when I had ups they were great. I had a great time this year and I am probably going to be in it next year. This will be great because I will be the master of flash and I will know what the different codes are. Enjoy the pictures.

Final Game

 I got my game done! I am so happy. I am so glad that I do not have to work on it anymore because it was really stressing me out. I was really worried about my game coming together but I think that it did. Here is my game and I hope that you like it. You can also see in on my wiki page.

Almost There

         We are so close to having everything done. I can almost taste being done. I am so happy that I was able to make it through a year of globaloria. I look back on it now and I realize that I thought that blogging would be the most difficult part of this class, but it is really the codes that are the funny part. I amgoing to miss globaloria over the summer. I hope that I get the oportuniy to be in it next year. Enjoy the funny pics.

Braces

      Let me start off by saying oooccccchhhhhhhhhh!!!! Alright now I am good so yesterday I left school early to go and get braces. The first 3 to 3 and a half hours that I had them I was like "Man this great my braces don't hurt". Then at about 8 they started to feel weirder, but do let me tell you that they feel weird the whole time. I know what caused: one my long time for them them to hurt and two for them to start and it is the same thing which is the Advil That I took after I got them on. So having Advil made them feel good but like all medicines it wore out and made them hurt. After a little I took more and had a good night sleep but when I woke bang they hurt AGAIN!!!! So I have a love / hate relationship with braces.

DEMO

        Finally!!!! We did my game demo file. It has been rescheduled at least two times. I am so glad I got it done because it keep making me nervous. I thought today O great the people in New York are not going to like my game but they LIKED IT!!!! I was so happy. I am so glad that I don't have to worry about demos anymore and I can finally do my game the whole class time instead of looking and have to change it.

Game Still have problems

Even though I figured out the code on my there is still problems. I should have know that problems were going to come because in globaloria nothing has NO PROBLEMS. I think that the problem that I have now is worst than the last which isn't saying anything because it was easy and in french it is facile.

 

Spring Break

                 This year like every year I dye eggs eat a good meal and also get something great from the Easter Bunny. I have already dyed eggs and can't wait to eat them tomorrow. I also can not wait to eat the big Turkey dinner. I also gave up candy for the 40 days of lent and so this just adds to the over all enjoyment of tomorrow. I believe that Easter like a lot of the other holidays brings my and probably a lot of families together.    

I Got The Code Right

Yesterday I got the code right! This is the very code that I have been stuck on for 3 weeks. It makes me mad because it was simple. I was not alone fixing the code. It was actually Mrs.Sheppard that fixed it. I hope that never happens again because I felt really dumb afterwards. Enjoy this link of photos.

Sports/School Work

           I have known from the beginning that it would be a challenge to keep up with my school work when I do sports. I saw this first hand when I played soccer for the school. Getting home at around 11 or 12 at night and doing my homework pretty much became my routine. Now I am starting to get big into track and have already had a night of getting home at 1:30 and have to do homework. It makes me TIRED, but just like soccer I go to school the next day and do all my work. I guess I should have listened when I was told being a middle school student athlete would be hard.

4-14-11 Suppose To Do Demo

           Yesterday I was planning on doing my demo file. There was one problem though. It was that the server was down along with the Internet. I knew the problem way before in my Geography class. We were going to watch a video, but like all technology it got mess up. The weird thing was that it the next class the computer work. This goes to show technology can be physcho.

Making Everything GREAT!!

          I have been working on my wiki page for a while and I think that it will be ready for my demo presentation on Wednesday. I am very nervous but I am ready to get it over with it. I hope that the person(s) that watch me see how hard I have been working on my Demo File. The thing that I don't want to happen is me about to talk and I forget EVERYTHING. Another thing is I hope that I don't have that really awkward moment of silence. I fell that if I can keep myself from freaking out I will do fine and will do a great performce.

Games

            I like to play a lot of computer games I really like the ones that are educational but they are so much fun you do not even realize it. I have a lot of ones like that. Some examples would be civiballs, rotate and roll, B-Cubed, Construction Fall. They are awesome and I am addicted to them and you will probably be too.

Skit

               Today in my English class we preformed a skit. I think that my group and I did a very good on the skit. I think that the props that we had worked great and were a great addition to the over all play. I feel that I did good saying my part and my group did as well. I was nervous at first about the whole thing but after a while I was fine. So enjoy my link.

Things you can Put on Blog page

       I really like the things that you can put on your blog. The thing I like the most is the fish gadget. It is cool because you can pretty much take care of the 10 fish. I saw the fish gadget on some of the other students blog pages and decided that it would be a great idea to get it as well. I am thinking of getting a whole bunch of cool thing on my blog page to spruce it up a little .

Pictures

              We have spring pictures today. I hate taking pictures because I don't know if I look funny or not. I guess that I get being nervous from pictures from my mom because she has a phobia of pictures. The thing about pictures is that once you order them the whole family gets one so if it is bad you will hear about it.

Problems With Technology

                 Ask anyone in my globaloria class and they will all say that technology is very funny sometimes. I don't mean ha ha funny but funny as in not working funny. We have had numerous times where either: flash is not working, the Internet is down, and also when  blogger doesn't work. Lucky for us we have three different labs available to us. Also one is on a different server so we ALMOST always have Internet. BUT MAN TECHNOLOGY CAN BE DIFFICULT.

CODES

             I was thinking about how much codes help me to do my game. I mean without them you have no game. Then I thought about the games that I play daily I was like " man it must take so much code to do this". So I tip my hats off to the people who make the games. Now when I think why is it taking so long to make that into a game I will think differently.

The Benifits of Having a Laptop

                 I really feel that my laptop that I talked about in a former blog is GREAT!! Even though I have had it for just a couple of days it has really helped me. When I want to know the weather all I have to do is go to my favorites then click on the link and then BANG the weather. Also when I want to play a game I click on the poptropica link and BANG poptropica it is awesome!!!!!!! The last thing that is awesome is when I remembered that I didn't do a blog I clicked the blogger link and did a blog in within 10 mins.

Keeping Up With Blogs

           I am very good with keeping up with my blogs, but this week I forgot to do one. I am very mad that I forgot because this means that am most likely going to get a zero for this week. I have really good grades in globaloria but the fact that I forgot something so easy as a blog just gets under my skin. HOPEFULLY I will remember to do one next time.

flash/codes

            I think that flash is a really cool program to have on a computer. I feel like it teaches you a lot of things that you wouldn't think you would learn. I mean I started at the beginning of globaloria not know what I would learn. Where I am now with all these codes I know. This leads me to my next topic which is CODES. I really believe that they are cool and very necessary in making a game. So in the end codes are the building blocks of flash and will continue to be as well.

Laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        For my birthday I am getting an inspiron 14r from DelI really can't wait to get it. This is because I will most likely get flash on it!!!!! Which will make my globaloria much easier. And when I don't need flash I will just mess around on it and find new codes.  

Adding Buttons (fixed)

             I found a great link on    Corey's Awesome Blog Page !!!!!! It is a cool link because it gives me a lot of pictures that I could use either on my wiki or for my blogs. I even have one of the photos on my wiki page. This is a link to Corey's awesome blog page.

Adding Animation (fixed)

      I really liked this video because it shows a lot of  healthy food (which it is like my game). I think that it is really cool and has a good bit of animation. Even though it doesn't directly go with my game it has food that you should eat instead of greasy food.

Game / Demo

         Right now I am working on my game and I am moving what I am doing on my game onto my demo file. This to me is the hardest part because you aren't making just one game you are making a game and moving the game. This is scary because you could mess up (while moving the scene) and have to start from the beginning . Another thing that is hard is that because I am constantly changing my game I may forget to change the demo to the right thing which gets me behind. I think that I have been able to keep up with all of these things and I will continue to as well.

Working on Demo File

      I have really enjoyed working on my Game Demo File. I think that the one thing that it has taught me the most of is the adding buttons code. I mean I pretty well had a grasp of the code but after working with it so much I know it by heart. I also know more about my game. I say this because I didn't really know how I was going to get my alien to go to the right number. After the demo file I am able to show the nutritional facts of the food when you put the alien over the food and finally get it (if you hit the right number) to say you lost weight. I am very impressed with how good I was able to do on the demo file and was happy at how it all came together.

Adding Sound (after)

 I really liked adding sounds. I thought that it was one of the easier things in flash that I have done in a while, but in the beginning I didn't know what to do. I solved this by watching the video on the wiki that it had for adding sounds. I have always liked the videos that they give to show what to do, but this one helped more than usual. I felt like it gave more of a step by step than all the others.

Adding sounds helped me a lot with the layers on the button itself and I know that I will need to know that info for my game. I dont know how I will use sound in my game.

Adding Sound (before)

       I am looking forward to adding sounds. I am also sort of nervous to do them Because I have never done them before. Along with the fact that I will probably not have sound in my game. One thing that will be a challenge is finding sound that will be able to relate to my game. I still do not know what I will have on the scene, but I am always find something in the end. I am hoping that adding sounds will be easier that codes because out of those two evils I want the easiest I can get.

Adding Mouse Links

       In the beginning of adding Mouse links I thought that I knew exactly what I was going to do. Which was click and drag the unhealthy/healthy food(s) and put them in there specific box . At this point I was really happy because I had code so if you clicked on the food it would move and also drop. So this was great! Being me I wanted more so I wanted to score if you put the food in the right box. It all went down hill from there. This is because my scoring code made problems for some other code. This is what I am guessing but when your food stays 3 inches away from your mouse you really have only that to think.The last excitment that I had before my class was over was thinking I fixed the code and have it to where everthing (but the text) goes away. Hopefully things will get better. It would be great!!

This is a scene done by my friend Katie. I really like the animation that she put on the bubble. I think that Katie makes the best scenes on flash and will probable continue to as well.

Globaloria So Far

    I really have liked my globaloria class so far. I think that It has been a great experience that has thought me many things. I have always known that it has been a challenge but yet I have always looked forward to my 8th period class. I also think that globaloria has made me a BETTER speller than I was at the beginning of the school year. Even though I have many things that I have done I still have alot to look forward to. My biggest is finishing my game and the smallest is doing a blog every week.

Adding Input I: Keyboard

I don't know why but when I first started the adding keyboard links I was really excited. I think it was because I had a really good idea of what I was going to do. I would put code on an arrow and get it to fly into a target. Then I soon realized it doesn't relate to my game. So after taking off the arrow and putting my bottle of water (vater) in its place I thought I had this in the bag. Well me being me I had to do more so I put code to get the bottle to hit the bulls eye and show nutritional facts. But it doesn't stop there. I put a barrier at the end of the scene so you would go to the credits page when you hit it . See this was perfect because I was going to have a little mini thing at the end of my game. So I get everything to at school and I am really happy up and till I try to show my family how I made links and they are all linked to one page. But this is fix able and it has really nothing to do with Adding Input I: Keyboard.

My New Year

         My New Year this year was pretty much the same as it is every year. I go to my Aunt and Uncle's house and wait around and play some games with my cousin. Then when it strikes midnight we are all up and ready to tell each other "Happy New Year". The thing that like the most is that we don't really eat a big old feast, but instead we have a regular meal. On that day it is really the thought that really matters. It is always a great time at my home away from home.
